"Ask the experts" to stay safe online 🎓

Right now many young people will be getting ready to attend university for the first time. This will be an exciting time for freshers - and a worrying time for their parents!

Unfortunately, students are targeted by scammers - usually on social media - with scams such as rental fraud, money muling, ‘get rich quick’ scams, ticket scams and a particular worrying trend of sextortion.

So the Yorkshire & Humber Regional Organised Crime Unit are hosting an ’Ask the Experts’ evening, advising on the types of scams currently in use, how to spot them and how to stay safe.

Although it's particularly aimed at students and their parents, it'll be of value to anyone looking to protect themselves online.

The evening will consist of a number of presentations from officers in our Fraud and Cyber Crime Unit, part of the Regional Organised Crime Unit. There will also be the opportunity to ask questions of our panel of experts.

This event will be held online - register and you will receive a link via email to join.  (You don't need any special apps or software to participate, just a good internet connection!).

To register for the event click this link:

And feel free to forward this on to anyone you think may benefit.
