Last night your Whitby Neighbourhoods Policing Team conducted targeted patrols across vast parts of the North York Moors. This was part of North Yorkshire Police's Operation Tornado and alongside the Rural Task Force.

Efforts last night focused on disruption and early-detection of those who seek to target our most rural residents and communities during the hours of darkness. 

Support was greatly appreciated from the volunteers of our Esk Valley Rural Watch who give up their own time, eyes and ears to help safeguard their rural communities. 

Aid was also given to two tourists who had gotten caught-out by the darkness that comes with this vast and beautiful landscape that we are privileged to patrol.
