Body of woman recovered from River Ouse near Cawood

At around 12pm on 26 March 2026, police recovered the body of a woman from the River Ouse near Cawood. Officers working on an unconnected investigation discovered her body while in the area.

Her death is being treated as unexplained at this time, pending the results of a post-mortem.

Extensive enquiries are ongoing to establish her identity and the circumstances that led to her being in the water including where and when she entered the river.
