Three suspected shoplifters arrested ❌ 🛍️

Following a report of a suspected shop theft in Northallerton yesterday afternoon, officers quickly carried out enquiries to identify and locate those involved.

It had been reported that two women had entered the Superdrug store on the High Street, filled their bags with cosmetics and left the store without paying for the items.

They were believed to have got into a black Toyota Aygo, which was then driven away by a third person.

Acting on information about the vehicle's movements, officers located it at St James Retail Park in Knaresborough shortly after. 

Three women aged 51, 38 and 31, from the North East, were arrested on suspicion of theft from a shop.

They have all been released on conditional bail while our investigation continues.

Retail crime remains a priority for North Yorkshire Police because of the impact it has on local businesses and our communities. 

It’s not just about stolen goods. Incidents like these can have a lasting effect on shop workers and their families. No one should feel scared, threatened or intimidated when they’re simply turning up to work and earning a living.
