|
On the morning of Wednesday 9th September 2026, between approximately 00:00hrs and 01:00hrs, offenders approached trailers loaded with fencing materials and gates that had been left in an open field in a rural location on Langrick Road, Long Drax. The offenders are believed to have used quad bikes to access the site. After cutting the ratchet straps and removing the majority of the wooden posts from the trailers, they stole the trailers and towed them to a lay-by. There, they removed security devices, including towbar covers, by grinding through the padlocks. They appear have gone over the fields and farm tracks to commit the theft. The offenders subsequently concealed the trailers at a nearby location . The victim was able to utilise tracking devices fitted to the trailers to identify their location, and both trailers were recovered with police assistance. On the attached map, A = Where trailers were taken. B = Where locks were cut off. C = Where trailers were stored and later recovered. The yellow line indicates the believed route. Police investigation is ongoing and we appeal to any witnesses who may have seen/ heard suspicious activity and/ or who may have CCTV footage to check their footage and contact NYP on Tel 101 should anything have been captured. Please quote occ 12260176876. Police would encourage owners of trailers and plant equipment to ensure appropriate security measures are in place, including the use of tracking devices, as these can significantly assist in the recovery of stolen property and the identification of offenders.
