🚔 Illegal E-Bike Seized in Filey 🚔

Today, our Filey Neighbourhood Policing Team were conducting a mobile patrol on Muston Road, Filey, when officers noticed a male riding an electric bike.

Officers turned their vehicle around and caught up with the rider. Following checks, it was established that the e-bike was being used illegally on the road and the bike was subsequently seized.

The rider has been reported for riding without insurance.

We continue to proactively patrol our communities and take action against those using illegal vehicles on our roads. These vehicles can pose a risk to both riders and other road users

🎄 Thinking of buying your child an e-bike for Christmas? Think again. Many of the bikes advertised online are not road legal and may actually be classed as motor vehicles. This means they require insurance, a driving licence, and registration to be used legally on the road. Parents and guardians should carefully check whether a vehicle is road legal before making a purchase.

If you have information about the use of illegal e-bikes, anti-social behaviour, or other criminal activity in your area, please report it to us via 101. In an emergency, or if a crime is in progress, always call 999.
